يفد حسنين البرطوشي (عادل إمام) من قريته إلى القاهرة بعد وفاة والده، ويقيم في منزل خاله، وبعد فشل حسنين في جميع الوظائف التي تسند إليه، يُطرد من منزل خاله ليجد نفسه مع مجموعة من المتسولين الذين يرأسهم سيد هاموش، ويتم تجنيد حسنين ليكون متسولًا في إحدى الأحياء الراقية، ويجد نفسه متورطًا مع أحد رجال الأعمال الفاسدين الذي يعتقد أن حسنين يعمل لصالح الشرطة.
