Posle decenija rada u Italiji i Nemačkoj, Đuzepe je u penziji i vraća se svojoj porodičnoj kući u Istru. Usamljen je i majka ga savetuje da se oženi. Ona mu predaje uniformu njegovog oca iz austrougarske vojske. Đuzepe kreće u potragu da pronađe ženu na „tranzicijskom istoku” nadajući se da će biti toplo dočekan.
