Film opisuje tragediju i ličnu borbu jednog čoveka kome su zbog siromaštva predstavnici lokalnih socijalnih službi oduzeli decu. On iz protesta započinje svoje putovanje, hodajući od sela na jugu Srbije do Beograda, sa kraja na kraj zemlje. Očajan, ali dostojanstven, želi da pokaže da mu je stalo da na najvišem mestu, u nadležnom ministarstvu, pronađe rešenje za svoj problem. Kroz svoje putešestvije, od gubitnika, odbačenog i poniženog čoveka - on postaje heroj.
