In un paesino siciliano c'è una forte rivalità tra i due parroci del luogo. Don Franco, che ha simpatie progressiste, viene accusato di aver dato corda ai comunisti durante uno sciopero con successivo blocco stradale. Il suo sospetto è che a denunciarlo al vescovo sia stato proprio don Ciccio, il conservatore. Lo scontro finale avverrà su un campo di calcio e finirà a tarallucci e vino.
