Wieczór sylwestrowy. Grupa studentów hucznie wita w górach nowy, 1968 rok. Wśród bawiących się jest Agnieszka Bergman, córka sekretarza KC, Jerzego Bergmana. Podczas odwiedzin ojca u dziewczyny dochodzi do gorącej dyskusji między nim a jej kolegami, którzy bardzo negatywnie oceniają nastroje polityczne w kraju. Mija kilka tygodni. W marcu wybucha strajk na Uniwersytecie Warszawskim. Między młodymi opozycjonistami jest Piotr, ukochany Agnieszki. Dziewczyna z całych sił pomaga więc strajkującym. Jej postawa ściąga na nią uwagę szpicli z UB.
